CRC's immigrant and refugee programming is designed to help youths make sense of their past, which may have been unstable and confusing. Family and community instability is a sad reality for many immigrant and refugee youth, who may be struggling with tremendous personal losses. Poverty, food insecurity, war and violence are just a few of the challenges these youths may have faced in their lives.
Bamboo Shield aims to match youth with caring adult role models who share a similar cultural and racial profile. These mentors can help teens understand their own family and cultural history, and find ways to reinvent their unique cultural identity within a new environment of peace and stability.
If you are an adult with immigrant or refugee ties - whether personal or professional - and you would like to become a Bamboo Shield mentor, please contact CRC.
