Bamboo Shield is actively looking for caring adults to serve as mentors for teens in the program. We are looking for individuals who understand the refugee/immigrant or Aboriginal experience and can identify with the challenges facing today's teens.
As a Bamboo Shield mentor, you may be asked to:
- Spend time with an individual youth or small groups of teens, doing everyday activities related to school, homework, sports, recreation and social outings.
- Share your own experiences and show how positive relationships and understanding can lead to healthy choices.
- Coach and support other helping adults with your insights and knowledge about cultural and racial understanding.
- Help identify ways to support the youth(s) you are mentoring.
