What to expect as a participant PDF Print E-mail

Bamboo Shield participants can expect between one and three years of support and intervention, depending on the individual's needs.  This typically involves:

  • Three group sessions per week, led by a project leader and police resource officers.
  • Ten learning modules on various life and personal skills (see list below)
  • Time every week with mentors, who may provide recreational or cultural companionship, tutoring, social outings, etc.
  • Two facilitated monthly sessions with parents and/or guardians
  • One monthly session with community leaders (advocates, parents, resource officers, Elders, etc.)
